The build of this mattress is exquisite, with its 5 rows of hand side stitching you can really tell that skilled craftsmen have stitched the mattress borders to provide better support, which overall adds an edge to edge backing. • Calico Pocket Springs – Each pocket spring is encased in a durable calico pocket offering strength and flexibility. These pocket springs are hand nested in a honeycomb pattern that maximises the support offered by each bespoke mattress. The springs work independently of each other gently supporting you where you need it most whilst you sleep.
• Hypoallergenic Fibre – A layer of hypo-allergenic fibre is used underneath the mattress fabric cover. This layer is sterilised and dust-free, therefore, ideal for allergy sufferers. Fibre is also a man-made filling of polyester strands that are full of air. Once you lay onto the mattress the strands will compress and the air filling expels giving you a much more ‘sink-into’ feeling than foam.
• Lambswool – Since lambswool comes from young sheep, it is the softest wool that will ever come from the sheep since it comes from the sheep’s first shearing. It’s extremely downy and soft to the touch. As well as this, lambswool shares many of the same traits as regular wool such as it being breathable, while also being a natural insulator; naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites & naturally water repellent and moisture-wicking.
• Merino wool – This is a sumptuous filling that has great hydroscopic properties encouraging the evaporation of body moisture, ensuring a really comfortable sleeping environment.
• Natural Horsehair – An incredibly strong and springy fibre that won’t break or lose its flexibility over time. This ensures continuous comfort and support. Horsehair is also great for regulating body temperature as each fibre helps transport heat away from the body, wicking away moisture for a more comfortable night’s sleep.
• Hand Side Stitching – Often used on quality pocket spring mattresses, a cord is passed through multiple entry points along the side of the mattress securing the pocket springs the mattress border. This technique means no bulging will occur and no metal rod will be needed to secure the springs as this can limit the movement of the springs. Multiple rows of side stitching can be used depending on the size and quality of the mattress. This is a difficult technique done by hand and improves edge to edge support.
• Hand Tufted – Fabric tufts are evenly distributed along the mattress surface, tufts hold the inner loose fillings in position. These fabric tufts help prolong the mattress’s life, making sure loose fillings don’t clump together or shift around.
