What is a Pocket Sprung Mattress?

When choosing a bed mattress you can become quite overwhelmed by the amount of choice which is out there. Many customers recently have been asking about what is a pocket sprung mattress?

In effect a pocket sprung mattress actually has springs sewn into individual fabric pockets. It is these little pockets which provide better support for your body as then each coil can individually absorb your body weight or the weight placed onto the bed by you and your partner. These springs are not linked together and because of this they have the ability to be able to respond individually to the shape of the sleeper's body.

With pocket sprung mattresses the spring count is an important figure to consider. They vary from approximately 600 springs per 5ft mattress to 2000 springs per 5ft mattress however the more there are then the better the support. If you are someone who likes to sleep on their side then pocket sprung mattresses could be the most comforting option to you. The position of the body when you sleep on your side puts different amounts of pressures onto your spine and with the individual springs your whole body is supported.

Maybe you are someone who is woken up by your partner moving around a lot or maybe you are the person who wakes your partner up with constant tossing and turning? If this is you then you too should think about choosing a pocket sprung mattress as they minimise your partner feeling the movement. Pocket sprung mattresses stop "roll together" a problem which many couples face when in bed.

In a survey conducted by Which? Magazine pocket sprung mattresses were the public’s favorite choice!
