About the Mattress:

The Woolsack Mattress features a range of high grade, quality fillings such as cashmere, silk and wool for the softest and finest of fibres blended into a durable layer for a luxurious feel. With added antiallergenic fibres underneath the mattress cover, creating a dust-free and sterilised layer ideal for allergy suffers. Available in soft, medium, and firm tensions, and requires regular turning during the first 3 months. The mattress is finished with traditional hand tufting and two rows of hand side stitching ensuring all fillings are secured in place. Perfect for those who prefer a medium feel and want a bed or mattress from a manufacturer at the top of their game. Filled with sumptuous layers of Wool, Cashmere and Silk, The Woolsack carries on the quality long associated with the brand. The real magic, however, lies in its 1400 pocket spring core. The advantage the Woolsack Mattress has over other manufacturers, however, is the method they use for connecting the springs. Using a method called centre tying.

  • Pocket Springs – Individual springs are wrapped in a fabric pocket and then glued or stitched together. By connecting the fabric pockets together but not the individual springs, it allows for free movement of the springs. This free movement of springs allows for complete tailored support for each sleeper with no motion transfer and is often considered a superior spring system. Each pressure point is supported and your weight evenly distributed as each pocket spring contours to your shape offering unrivalled support and comfort.
  • Cashmere – A luxury natural material that is both incredibly soft and smooth, with a very durable outer layer. The fine soft Underdown is lighter and more insulating than other wools, cashmere also offers moisture-wicking properties making it great for keeping you cool and dry.
  • Silk – A luxury fibre that is both breathable and a natural temperature regulator, with moisture-absorbing properties making for a more comfortable night’s sleep. Silk is also the strongest of natural fibres and hypoallergenic making for a healthier sleeping surface.
  • Wool – A popular natural filling for its soft, springy and naturally supportive qualities. Wool is also proficient at wicking away moisture helping to regulate body temperature, keeping you warm and dry as you sleep. It is also antibacterial, anti-static and its inherent fire retardant meaning there’s no need to use chemicals
  • Fibre – Fibre is a man-made filling of polyester strands full of air, once you lay onto the mattress the strands will compress and the air filling expels giving you a much more ‘sink-into’ feeling than foam.
  • Hand Tufted – Fabric tufts are evenly distributed along the mattress surface, tufts hold the inner loose fillings in position. These fabric tufts help prolong the mattress’s life, making sure loose fillings don’t clump together or shift around.
  • Hand Side Stitching – Often used on quality pocket spring mattresses, a cord is passed through multiple entry points along the side of the mattress securing the pocket springs the mattress border. This technique means no bulging will occur and no metal rod will be needed to secure the springs as this can limit the movement of the springs. Multiple rows of side stitching can be used depending on the size and quality of the mattress. This is a difficult technique done by hand and improves edge to edge support.
  • Centre Tying – Relyon use a method that sets them apart from other manufacturers called Centre tying. This method allows each individual spring to work more independently from its neighbours than other mattresses manufacturers pocket spring mattresses whilst also being much more durable. Whereas other manufacturers tend to use glue to connect the springs, a method which restricts the independence of each spring and can be subject to tearing and breaking down faster. Relyon holds the rows of springs together by a very strong cord that runs from one end of the mattress together giving it more precision with regards to contouring and longer life.
