Prestige Beds was founded by James Dunne in 1959 in Blackburn and the company was one of the first in the country to specialise in bed and mattress sales.

It is a family owned company with a proud heritage spanning over 5 decades, and with the celebration its 50th anniversary in 2009 came the opening of their fourth showroom in Preston, providing the area with the high level of service they have done for half a century in Blackburn, Burnley and the surrounding areas.

James’ son and Managing Director, Joe Dunne, said: “When Prestige Beds was first established, most companies focused on general furnishings, so we were the original bed specialists.”

He added: “We have a good reputation for offering professional, expert advice and a personal service in choosing the right bed or mattress, whether it is pocket sprung, memory foam, open coil or latex.

Three generations down the line, we now have two stores in Blackburn, one in Burnley and the new store on Southgate in Preston, next to B&Q and above the Bathstore.

Mr Dunne said: “The recession hasn’t really affected us and we are still very busy. We took the opportunity to open our next store in Preston because we feel that the area needs a good, independent bed store with a good reputation that people can trust.”

Prestige Beds works with some of the business’s top suppliers, such as Vi-Spring, Silentnight, Sealy, Sleepeezee, Slumberland, Myers, Rest Assured and Relyon.

We stock a comprehensive range of over 1,000 beds and mattresses, such as divan beds, bedsteads, children's beds and adjustable remote control beds along with pocket-sprung, memory foam and latex mattresses. These are available in all sizes from single (90cm) up to super king size (180cm) beds and mattresses. Along with these standard sizes we also stock three quarter sizes (120cm) and custom, made to measure sizes.

We also offer a free, next day delivery service within the Lancashire area and a bed disposal service to recycle customers’ old beds.
